Varun Grover Gives Up His Dum Laga Ke Haisha TOIFA Trophy For Charity Auction To Raise Funds For COVID-19 Test Kits
Varun Grover, who bagged the best lyricist award for Moh Moh Ke Dhaage from Ayushmann Khurrana-Bhumi Pednekar starrer Dum Laga Ke Haisha at TOIFA 2016, has now given his trophy for a charity auction to raise funds for COVID-19 test kits
Sacred Games writer, comedian, and National Award-winning lyricist Varun Grover has won numerous awards for his lyrics in films such as Gangs Of Wassseypur, Ayushmann Khurrana-Bhumi Pednekar starrer Dum Laga Ke Haisha, among others. He has penned the lyrics for several films such as Sui Dhaaga, Udta Punjab, Newton, and many more. The trophies and awards one wins in their lifetime become a prized possession. However, Varun Grover gave one of the trophies he won for a charity auction to raise funds for COVID-19 test kits.
Varun Grover had bagged the best lyricist award for Moh Moh Ke Dhaage from Ayushmann Khurrana-Bhumi Pednekar starrer Dum Laga Ke Haisha at TOIFA 2016. Sharing a picture of his trophy, he wrote that he is giving it for a charity auction. Joking about his retirement plan, he wrote that he had planned on putting up the trophy on eBay in 2050, however, now is a better time to use it. He tweeted, “Adding the TOIFA trophy I won for 'Moh Moh Ke Dhaage' (DLKH, 2015) for a charity auction to raise funds for COVID test kits. Putting it up on eBay in 2050 was my retirement fund plan but I believe now is a better time to use it to secure India's future.”
Varun Grover’s fans were touched by this gesture and appreciated him for the same. While one fan wrote, “A gesture that is not at all surprising coming from you,” another user commented, “Solute Varun bhai.. aap jaise log duniya me bahut kam hote hain.. abhi to aapko aur badi trophy milengi.”

Standup comedian Kunal Kamra is also giving away his YouTube button to the highest donor. He wrote, “We need more RT-PCR kits. This is the fastest confirmatory test kit in India. Maylab is an Indian company making it at 0 profit. I've adopted a kit which costs Rs 1,34,000/- for my home city Mumbai. You can do the same, I'm giving my YouTube button away to the highest donor. I urge all artists to give away their prized possessions towards charity in such difficult times. While every penny counts the highest donor will get the button.” ALSO READ: Varun Grover Gets Homophobic Responses For Wearing Nail Paint; Says ‘Bizarre, Putting Color On Nails Is Considered Scandalous’
